As fighting intensifies in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the city of Goma has fallen into rebel hands, plunging the region into an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Hundreds of thousands people have had to abandon everything to flee the violence, desperately seeking refuge. Without drinking water, electricity or access to basic healthcare, their situation is dramatic.

Caritas International, in collaboration with its local partners, is mobilizing to help displaced families, particularly in South Kivu province. But the needs are huge: food, water and shelter are essential for survival.
