On Friday, March 28, Myanmar was struck by a powerful earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale. The impact is devastating: thousands have died or been injured, and the toll continues to rise. The epicenter was located in a densely populated area, further worsening the effects of this unprecedented disaster.

A Country in Distress

The material damage is immense. Entire villages have been destroyed, roads are impassable, and vital infrastructure – such as hospitals and schools – lies in ruins. The few hospitals still functioning are overwhelmed and lack essential medical supplies. Thousands of people are now homeless and urgently need food, water, shelter, and protection.
